Monique understands the business needs of nonprofits
Monique joined the Westport Young Woman’s League in 2016, where she has since held various roles on the Board of Directors: Public Relations, Vice President, President & CEO, and Past President. Monique is responsible for building the League's social media presence, solidifying media relationships, creating their new website, realigning their organizational structure, creating the internal mantra of ‘PACT: passion, accountability, collaboration, transformation’ to be the driving force behind their external mission of 'building community', and aligned their charitable giving to the United Nations’ Organizational Sustainable Goals; which then inspired her reimagine the League’s grant giving process.
Since its inception, the League has donated over $4.3 million to local nonprofit groups. While Monique has been a part of the organization, she has worked with over 50 nonprofits and given over 175 grants to local nonprofits.
Monique's nomination to the Westport Downtown Association Board of Directors came while she was Vice President of the League. Her appointment to Vice President came while managing the governance and business affairs as President and CEO of the League. It was of particular interest to her that the WDA was becoming a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization where she could contribute her business and nonprofit experience to amplify their mission of being an advocate for business owners and enhancing the community's downtown experience.
With the WDA, Monique helps sponsor and host some of the community's most beloved events: Westoberfest, the Westport Fine Arts Festival which has been featured in New York Magazine, and Fashionably Westport- a fashion show that raises money for a local nonprofit geared to ending homelessness.
